Search for Radions at LEP2

چکیده

A new scalar resonance, called the radion, with couplings to fermions and bosons similar to those of the Higgs boson, is predicted in the framework of Randall-Sundrum models, proposed solutions to the hierarchy problem with one extra dimension. An important distinction between the radion and the Higgs boson is that the radion would couple directly to gluon pairs, and in particular its decay products would include a significant fraction of gluon jets. The radion has the same quantum numbers as the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson, and therefore they can mix, with the resulting mass eigenstates having properties different from those of the SM Higgs boson. Existing searches for the Higgs bosons are sensitive to the possible production and decay of radions and Higgs bosons in these models. For the first time, searches for the SM Higgs boson and flavour-independent and decay-mode independent searches for a neutral Higgs boson are used in combination to explore the parameter space of the Randall-Sundrum model. In the dataset recorded by the OPAL experiment at LEP, no evidence for radion or Higgs particle production was observed in any of those searches at centre-of-mass energies up to 209GeV. The results are used to set limits on the radion and Higgs boson masses. For all parameters of the RandallSundrum model, the data exclude masses below 58GeV for the mass eigenstate which becomes the Higgs boson in the no-mixing limit.

Suggestions for Benchmark Scenarios for MSSM Higgs Boson Searches at Hadron Colliders∗

The Higgs boson search has shifted from LEP2 to the Tevatron and will subsequently move to the LHC. Due to the different initial states, the Higgs production and decay channels relevant for Higgs boson searches were different at LEP2 to what they are at hadron colliders. We suggest new benchmark scenarios for the MSSM Higgs boson search at hadron colliders that exemplify the phenomenology of di...

The Lep Testimony: Exotic Searches and Studies

The Standard Model (SM) accurately describes the observed phenomena, but it leaves several fundamental questions unanswered. Many extensions of the SM have been developed to solve these puzzles, of which the supergravity inspired Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) is the most widely studied. In this paper, recent results of the LEP experiments, ALEPH, DELPHI, L3 and OPAL,...

Higgs Searches at Lep2 with the Aleph Detector

Data collected with the ALEPH detector at centre-of-mass energies between 130 and 189 GeV are used to search for Higgs bosons of the standard model and its supersymmetric extensions. No evidence for a Higgs particle has been found in 256 pb −1 of LEP2 data. Mass exclusion limits were set.

Radion and Higgs mixing at the LHC

We study the resonance production of radions and Higgs via gluon-gluon fusion in the Randall-Sundrum model with Higgs-curvature mixing at the LHC. We find that radion can be detected both in mixed (with Higgs boson) and unmixed case if the radion vacuum expectation value Λφ is around 1 TeV. The Λφ ∼ 10 TeV case is also promising for certain values of mixing parameters and radion masses. The mix...

Lhc-ilc Synergy *

I will begin by making a few general comments on the synergy between the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) which will go in action in 2007 and the International Linear Collider (ILC) which is under planning. I will then focus on the synergy between the LHC and the PLC option at the ILC, which is expected to be realised in the later stages of the ILC program. In this I will cover the possible synergy ...
